The Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) was established on 19 December 1980 in Jakarta. Singapore was among the five founding members, the other four being Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand.
Brunei joined VECONAC in 1985, followed by Vietnam in 1997. Cambodia joined in 2010, and Laos and Myanmar in 2012.
VECONAC aims to promote solidarity, closer cooperation, and understanding among veterans organisations in ASEAN member countries through active dialogue and interaction at its annual meetings, which are hosted in rotation by the 10 member countries.
